Music for St. Cecilia, a concert of music by Purcell and Handel with strings, voices, trumpet, and chorus Foundling Baroque Orchestra, with Artists in Residence Pamela Murray, soprano, and Kris Kwapis, natural trumpet. Guest artists Emily Spura, mezzo-soprano, Sumner Thompson, baritone, and the Grace Church Choir.
A festive afternoon of delightful music written in celebration of St. Cecilia, the patron saint of music. Trumpet tunes, songs from operas and Alexander's Feast, chaconnes, and an anthem, all in praise of music.
Concert-goers are invited to bring donations of slippers, robes and pajamas for women and children women and children living in Rhode Island's shelters. Foundling works this season in affiliation with the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence to raise awareness about domestic violence issues and provide assistance to survivors.
